That Darn Cat! (1965)

(If this is your first time on this blog, I ask you to read my About page first! You can find a link to it at the top left-hand corner of this blog. Thanks!)

Directed by Robert Stevenson, That Darn Cat! proves to be an interesting entry in the live-action Disney films lineup. It was Disney star Hayley Mills’ last of six films she made for Disney (not counting future TV sequels) as well as future Disney star Dean Jones’ first of ten films he would make for Disney (again not counting cameo appearances in future remakes). But is that the only thing the film should be noted for or is it actually worth remembering for its quality? Let’s take a look at That Darn Cat!!

And remember, SPOILERS AHEAD!

Today, I tackle yet another request from a fellow blogger and friend, Simoa, from Champagne for Lunch. You could say that the film she requested is out of this world! It’s The Cat from Outer Space.

"Not sure if that's an interesting or stupid title....actually no, it's a stupid title."

Yeah, the title is quite stupid. Was the film stupid too or did I actually find myself enjoying it? Let’s go through my review to find out!

Today’s review is a request of one of my friends and followers, simoa. A lover of Pixar, animation, and classic Hollywood, she also runs the Champagne for Lunch blog. She’s a fan of Roddy McDowall’s and wanted me to review two of his live-action Disney films, so today we’re taking a look at The Adventures of Bullwhip Griffin. (Let’s hope she doesn’t kill me after reading this review, lol!)

Without further ado, this is The Adventures of Bullwhip Griffin!

When people think of a Disney movie similar to Mary Poppins, the one that comes to mind is Bedknobs and Broomsticks. And why not? It shares many similarities with Mary Poppins. They both feature heroines with supernatural abilities, both feature much of the same cast/crew, and Bedknobs and Broomsticks was actually worked on by Walt Disney himself while waiting for the final go-ahead from P.L. Travers for Mary Poppins.

So is the film that’s most similar to Mary Poppins any good? Let’s find out! By the way, I’ll be reviewing the restored edition of the film (the one that makes the movie like 140 minutes long)!

And remember, SPOILERS AHEAD!
