The Lion King (2019)

(If this is your first time on this blog, I ask you to read my About page first! You can find a link to it at the top left-hand corner of this blog. Thanks!)

Yes, I know that this isn’t a live-action film at all (barring like one shot in the beginning of the film), but Disney is treating this like their live-action remakes and I know many of you would like to see how I rank it compared to the other live-action remakes. Hence, I am reviewing it on this blog!

It’s also my blog and I can do what I want!

When Disney hit gold with their 2016 live-action remake of The Jungle Book, directed by Jon Favreau, it only made sense for them to try to do it again with another animal-themed film. What better one than the film considered by many to be their magnum opus, The Lion King?

Before I dive into the review, I’d like to point out that it’s nigh impossible to watch this film without comparing it to the original! As the story is literally the same overall, I’ll try to point out the changes that were made in this remake. With that in mind, be prepared!

Ugh, don’t get me started on that!

And remember, SPOILERS AHEAD!

Upcoming Live-Action Disney Films in 2019

I shall be taking a break on this blog for the rest of the year and will resume posting my reviews in January 2019. Until then, take a look at the upcoming live-action Disney films set to hit theaters next year!

(Keep in mind that these are only the theatrically-released live-action Disney films that are eligible to be reviewed on my blog. Hence, there will be no Star Wars, Marvel Studios, or documentary films listed. Also keep in mind that these dates are liable to change at any time! Enjoy!)

The Jungle Book (2016)

junglebook2016(If this is your first time on this blog, I ask you to read my About page first! You can find a link to it at the top left-hand corner of this blog. Thanks!)

You all know my feelings regarding these live-action remakes that Disney is doing of their animated films: I’m against them in principle, but if a film happens to be good, I’ll admit to it being so. Having said that, there were only 2 planned Disney remakes that didn’t irk me; I actually was somewhat open towards. One of them happened to be the subject of today’s review: The Jungle Book.

Directed by Jon Favreau, I felt that The Jungle Book was a book that had been adapted many times already, so I didn’t feel that this would be a remake of the 1967 animated film, per se. But, that doesn’t stop me from pointing out the differences between that film and this film. Without further ado, let’s take a look at this 2016 adaptation of The Jungle Book!

And remember, SPOILERS AHEAD!
