Upcoming Live-Action Disney Films in 2019

I shall be taking a break on this blog for the rest of the year and will resume posting my reviews in January 2019. Until then, take a look at the upcoming live-action Disney films set to hit theaters next year!

(Keep in mind that these are only the theatrically-released live-action Disney films that are eligible to be reviewed on my blog. Hence, there will be no Star Wars, Marvel Studios, or documentary films listed. Also keep in mind that these dates are liable to change at any time! Enjoy!)

So Dear to My Heart (1948)

(If this is your first time on this blog, I ask you to read my About page first! You can find a link to it at the top left-hand corner of this blog. Thanks!)

While Song of the South may be more famous (or infamous), it wasn’t the only live-action Disney film of its time to feature animated segments within it. The 1948 film, So Dear to My Heart, would be another example of this type of film from Disney. Is the film any good or is better left obscure? Read on to find out what I think!

And remember, SPOILERS AHEAD!

We’ve finally arrived at the final film in the Herbie franchise!

Well, the final THEATRICAL film in the Herbie franchise!

Directed by Angela Robinson, this film at least takes us back to the racing circuit compared to the misguided hodgepodge we had in Herbie Goes Bananas! But, is this film fully loaded or is it missing a few screws? Read on to find out!

You know what comes to my mind when I think of Herbie, the Love Bug? Racing? What rubbish! I, of course, think of annoying kids, cruise ships, bullfights, and Incan treasure thieves!

Or am I?

Directed by the late Vincent McEveety, Herbie Goes Bananas is not only the fourth entry in the franchise, but also the worst one, by far! Read my review to see what I mean!

A Wrinkle in Time (2018)

(If this is your first time on this blog, I ask you to read my About page first! You can find a link to it at the top left-hand corner of this blog. Thanks!)

In 2003, Disney made a TV film based on the novel by Madeleine L’Engle, A Wrinkle in Time. I’ve never seen it before, but I can only imagine that it was super good that Disney decided to make a theatrical film of it now? Or maybe it was super bad that Disney decided to rectify their mistakes with a theatrical version?

Whatever the case, the theatrical film was announced and Ava DuVernay was hired to direct the film. She ended up breaking barriers by becoming the first African-American woman to direct a film that earned at least $100 million domestically. This was also the first live-action film with a nine-digit budget directed by a woman of color. Do these achievements prove the superiority of the film? Or were these achievements the only…achievements? Let’s find out as we review A Wrinkle in Time!

And remember, SPOILERS AHEAD!
