7 Years!

Today is the 7th anniversary of this blog! I started my journey through the live-action Disney films on August 12, 2013 with Oz: The Great and Powerful. I’ve covered a lot of ground, but still have a ways to go until I complete the entire filmography.

I want to thank you all for all the support you’ve given me over the years, both those of you who have been here since the beginning as well as those of you who have only discovered my blog recently! Thanks so much!

A Tale of Two Critters (1977)

(If this is your first time on this blog, I ask you to read my About page first! You can find a link to it at the top left-hand corner of this blog. Thanks!)

One aspect of this blog is that I’m not reviewing any documentaries on it. Especially not any of the nature documentaries Disney has produced over the years be it True-Life Adventures or Disneynature productions. However, I can still end up with the short end of the stick when Disney releases live-action Disney films that may just as well be nature documentaries. A Tale of Two Critters is one such film.

Released in 1977 as a double feature alongside The Rescuers, this film is only 48 minutes long, barely making it feature film length! I already know I’m not going to enjoy this since it’s mostly watching two animals do things with narration in the background, so let’s hurry up and get this over with. Here’s A Tale of Two Critters.

With the results of my recent poll indicating that y’all wanna see me review Disney+ original live-action films on this blog, the first one I decided to tackle was the recent Artemis Fowl. Directed by Kenneth Branagh, this adaptation of the book series written by Eoin Colfer, was in development by Disney for years! It was originally intended for a theatrical release in 2019 which got postponed to 2020 which got downgraded to a Disney+ release. What did I think of the film? Read on to find out!

Freaky Friday (1976)

(If this is your first time on this blog, I ask you to read my About page first! You can find a link to it at the top left-hand corner of this blog. Thanks!)

Freaky Friday was originally a 1972 novel written by composer and author, Mary Rodgers (daughter of Richard Rodgers of Rodgers and Hammerstein fame). It was similar to an 1882 novel by F. Anstey entitled Vice Versa: A Lesson to Fathers wherein a father and son swap bodies. Mary Rodgers would switch up the formula by having a mother and daughter swap bodies. She even wrote the screenplay for the film adaptation. So with the original author writing the screenplay, is this Gary Nelson-directed Disney comedy any good? Read on to find out!
