The Princess Diaries (2001)

(If this is your first time on this blog, I ask you to read my About page first! You can find a link to it at the top left-hand corner of this blog. Thanks!)

When this film was released, it was a massive hit, not just commercially, but also in the hearts of the people. Based on a series of books by Meg Cabot, the film was so beloved that it even spawned a sequel in 2004. But, this was a film that I hadn’t seen before and had it not been for this blog, I probably never would have.

So did I think that The Princess Diaries is as good a film as everyone makes it out to be? Or will this turn out to be another Hocus Pocus? Read on to find out!

And remember, SPOILERS AHEAD!

Should I Review Disney+ Original Movies?

With Disney’s streaming service, Disney+, soon to be launched, we will also be getting many original films debuting there rather than in theaters. As you know, I only am reviewing the theatrical live-action films for this blog, hence no Disney Channel TV films or direct-to-video films.

So do you think I should treat these upcoming Disney+ films like theatrical films and review them for this blog? Or should I treat them like Disney Channel TV films and disqualify them from being reviewed here?

Hidden treasure, country landscapes, and English accents, what’s not to like Directed by Norman Tokar and based on a book written by Michael Innes, Candleshoe is one of those live-action Disney films that should be more well-known. Without further ado, here’s my review of the film!

Superdad (1973)

Released to theaters in 1973, Superdad was the Disney movie made to address the “generation gap”: the differences in outlooks and lifestyles between the adults and college-aged kids during the Vietnam War Era. Was the film a success? Nope, no it wasn’t. Many people consider this to be the worst (or at least one of the worst) live-action Disney films ever made! Just to show how little faith Disney had in this film: they kept the film sitting on the Disney shelves for a whole year before they decided to release it in theaters!

So, I figured it’s best that I hurry up and check this one off the list as quickly as I can! Here is my review of Superdad!

Mighty Joe Young (1998)

Today’s review has been requested by a longtime follower of the blog, oscarstainton. I’ve been reviewing a lot of films recently dealing with animals, jungles, and the like and this one’s no different. Arguably, the most famous cinematic ape is King Kong. But, the creators of the 1933 King Kong film made another film in 1949 also centered around a massive ape entitled, Mighty Joe Young. Disney would remake this film in 1998 which would end up flopping at the box office! So, is this film truly a monster or is there beauty hidden within? Read on to find out!

And remember, SPOILERS AHEAD!
