Going on Vacation

I’m sorry to announce that I have to delay my next post AGAIN! I apologize for all these recent delays and postponements! This time, I’m going on vacation for about a week or perhaps longer, so I won’t have time to work on my review. So expect the next post on January 6, 2014. Thanks for the patience and support!

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest (2006)

(If this is your first time on this blog, I ask you to read my “About” page first! You can find a link to it at the top left-hand corner of this blog. Thanks!)

With the success of the first film, it wasn’t long before a sequel to “Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl” was made. The film was a huge box-office hit, grossing over a billion dollars worldwide. Is it as good as the first? No.

"I mean...dudette."

This film suffers from an incredibly complicated combination of plots as well as a very long running time. Yet, I still have to review it. Here’s the review of “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest”.

Further Delay

I sincerely apologize to all of you, but this week is the last week of final exams for me, so I’ve been really busy studying for them. Because of that, I won’t be able to keep my promise to have the next review posted tomorrow, but I hopefully will have it posted before the end of the week (Wednesday is a good estimate).

Again, I apologize for any and all inconvenience this may or may not have caused (then again if this didn’t cause any inconvenience, should I still apologize? Hmm…the mind wanders….problems….solutions….mathematics….chocolate bars….I’ve clearly been studying too much)!

Self-driving cars have always been a fascination with us, for some reason. And now in this day and age, it’s become a reality.

The Google never seems to fail us!
The Google never seems to fail us!

Even Walt Disney got us into the self-driving car rage with a series of films based on a Volkswagen Beetle named Herbie. This franchise consisted of four theatrically released films and one theatrically released reboot was a great success! Today, we are reviewing the first film in the series, “The Love Bug”

Changing From Every Week to Every Other Week

Hello readers,

Well, when I started this blog, I said that I’d update it every week with a new review unless life got busy. In that case, I’d switch it to every other week. Well, life got busy with schoolwork and other priorities and I’m not pleased with the quality of my recent reviews, so I’ll be updating this blog every other week from now on. Sorry for any inconveniences!

So, the next review will be posted hopefully on November 25th.

Treasure Island (1950)

Walt Disney dabbled with live-action since early on in his career with the “Alice Comedies” from the 1920’s in which he put a real person into an animated world.

For 1920's technology, I'm quite impressed!
For 1920’s technology, I’m quite impressed!

Even many of his early feature films were a mixture of animation and live-action such as “Song of the South”, “So Dear to my Heart”, “Victory Through Air Power”, etc.

But his first FULLY live-action film was released in 1950. It was a film about swashbuckling buccaneers and buried treasure…a tale of pirates that we all know and love.

Uh...no.
Uh…no.

I’m talking about the classic film based on Robert Louis Stevenson’s novel, “Treasure Island”. Let’s look at the film together, shall we?

Prom (2011)

prom(If this is your first time on this blog, I ask you to read my “About” page first! You can find a link to it at the top left-hand corner of this blog. Thanks!)

I’m a guy who never understood the point of prom. Prom just seems like an extremely overrated event in high school that lasts for a few hours. Why is everyone so obsessed with it? Granted, I never went to a traditional high school, so I’ve never experience a prom personally, but I don’t believe that I missed out on anything.

So, as you can imagine, this movie was one that I was dreading to see! But, I decided to get it over with early so as to not further postpone the dread. Was I right in wanting to stay away from this film as much as possible? Did this film make me change my views on prom and recognize it as a wonderful experience? Let’s find out! Enjoy!

When one thinks of classic live-action Disney films, one generally thinks of films from the ’60s such as “Mary Poppins”, “The Love Bug”, “The Computer Wore Tennis Shoes”, “Pollyanna”, “Swiss Family Robinson”, “The Parent Trap”, etc. But the ’70s also had its share of classics. Today we’ll look at one of these classic ’70s Disney films in particular, “The Apple Dumpling Gang”.
