Originally planned to be a Disney Channel Original Movie, today’s film was deemed good enough to be upgraded to a theatrical release. As a result of that, the film received mixed reviews and didn’t perform all that amazingly at the box office. Nevertheless, the film has since gone on to gain a cult following who watches it at least once a year around Halloween time. Without further ado, let’s take a look at Hocus Pocus!

In 1979, two families escaped East Germany by constructing a hot air balloon and flying/riding/taking (not sure what the correct verb is) it over the border to West Germany. In 1982, their story was brought to life by Disney in a theatrical film, Night Crossing. At the time, many people considered it to be one of Disney’s most serious films ever. Today, we’re gonna take a look at this film.

Well, I’ve already reviewed the 1961 Disney film, The Parent Trap. Now, it’s time to fulfill the request of many of my readers (oscarstainton, in particular), and review the 1998 remake. Is it as good as the original? Is it better? Is it worse? Let’s find out!

(As the plot is pretty much the same as the original film, I’m not going to go that much deeply into it or its source material. So, if you want to know more about that, please read my review of the 1961 film. Thanks!)

If you’re like the normal person in the street, when you think Disney movies, you think political plot points!

Wait-What-Meme-16

Yeah, I was being sarcastic. Even I was surprised after watching this movie that politics played an integral part to this movie’s plot. Based on a memoir written by one of the characters in the film (I don’t know how loosely or strongly this film is based on the memoirs), this musical film is not well-known, as you might imagine. So without further ado, let’s jump into reviewing The One and Only, Genuine, Original Family Band!
