Popeye (1980)

(If this is your first time on this blog, I ask you to read my About page first! Thanks!)

Who would have thunk that Disney would have made a film about the spinach-loving cartoon sailor, Popeye? Well, in a rare co-production with another studio (Paramount Pictures, in this case), they did! Growing up with the Popeye cartoons, I always had an affection for the characters: him, Olive Oyl, Swee’Pea, Wimpy, and Brutus (I was more familiar with the antagonist being named Brutus rather than Bluto). I never read the actual Popeye comic strip until much later in life. How does this Robert Altman-directed film hold up as an adaptation? Read on to find out!

Summer Magic (1963)

(If this is your first time on this blog, I ask you to read my About page first! Thanks!)

I’ve already reviewed five of the six films that Hayley Mills made for Disney, so it was inevitable that I would eventually complete the set.

I’M ONLY DOING THE THEATRICAL FILMS, THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

Directed by James Neilson, Summer Magic is a Sherman Brothers musical set in early 20th Century Maine. I hadn’t seen it before, but heard good things from many of my Disney friends. Did I agree with them? Read on for my review of Summer Magic.

Honey, I Blew Up the Kid (1992)

(If this is your first time on this blog, I ask you to read my About page first! Thanks!)

Although apparently not intended as a sequel to Honey, I Shrunk the Kids, Honey, I Blew Up the Kid was released in 1992. For those unfamiliar with the term, to “blow up” something means to enlarge it such as in to “blow up a picture”. We’re not talking about anything dynamite-related here. You’ll get the point as we traverse the film. Enjoy my review of Honey, I Blew Up the Kid!

A film based on a true WWII story and directed by Arthur Hiller should be good, right? Well…let’s find out. Read on for my review of the live-action Disney film, Miracle of the White Stallions!

Disenchanted (2022)

(If this is your first time on this blog, I ask you to read my About page first! Thanks!)

Disney’s Enchanted proved to be a major hit with audiences and Disney fans alike! It managed to both pay homage to and make lighthearted fun of the fairy tale genre and Disney itself, whilst not being disrespectful or dismissive either. As you can imagine, a sequel was announced for a while, finally being released to Disney+ in 2022. Is Disenchanted as good as Enchanted? Read on to find out!

Son of Flubber (1963)

(If this is your first time on this blog, I ask you to read my About page first! Thanks!)

Walt Disney was known as a guy who wasn’t fond of sequels. Having said that, here we are taking a look at the sequel he made to The Absent-Minded Professor: Son of Flubber! Apparently, the main reason that this sequel was made was because there were leftover gags from The Absent-Minded Professor…and it shows! Let’s take a look at one of the last (if not the last) black-and-white film from Disney: Son of Flubber!

And remember, SPOILERS AHEAD!

Hocus Pocus 2 (2022)

(If this is your first time on this blog, I ask you to read my About page first! Thanks!)

As everyone knows, I wasn’t a fan of the first Hocus Pocus. I didn’t grow up with it so I have no nostalgia for it and when I finally watched it for the first time, I thought it was such a bad movie! So I was not at all excited when a sequel to the film was announced! I figured this would just be more of the same. Was I right? Or did I actually enjoy this film? Read on for my review of Hocus Pocus 2!

The Shaggy D.A. (1976)

(If this is your first time on this blog, I ask you to read my About page first! Thanks!)

Robert Stevenson is a name that live-action Disney film fans would be very familiar with.

No, not that one.
There we go!

A British film director, his most famous films were the nineteen that he directed for Disney, many of which I’ve already reviewed including Mary Poppins and Bedknobs and Broomsticks. Today we take a look at what would be his last film for the company (as well as his last film overall), The Shaggy D.A.

Pinocchio (2022)

(If this is your first time on this blog, I ask you to read my About page first! Thanks!)

This was a film that I was dreading to watch. I’d heard so many bad things about it. A fellow reviewer even referred to it as the worst thing that Disney’s ever produced which really had me worried! Eventually I checked it out and boy, it’s…it’s something, alright.

Here’s my review of the live-action remake of Disney’s Pinocchio!

And remember, SPOILERS AHEAD!
