Welcome to my blog, My Live Action Disney Project. Call me Mark.

I got to thinking a few years ago that my love for Disney isn’t restricted to just their animated features, but to their live-action films as well! And I thought, “Why not create another blog wherein I can review the live-action Disney films?”. ” Nobody else (to my knowledge at the time) had done it before and it seemed like a great way for me to watch all the live-action Disney films and share my journey through them with my fellow readers!

And that was the story of how this blog came to existence! So, will I be reviewing ALL the live-action Disney films? Well, not all! Firstly, I will only be doing the THEATRICAL and DISNEY+ releases. Secondly, I won’t be doing any of the documentary films (Waking Sleeping Beauty, Earth, Oceans, Victory Through Air Power, etc.). And thirdly, I won’t be doing films that are/were released by other subsidiaries of Disney or studios that were later bought by Disney (films from Touchstone Pictures, Hollywood Pictures, Miramax Films, Marvel Studios, Star Wars films, etc).

Summing up, I’ll be viewing (and reviewing) all the live-action films that are PURELY Disney! A list of the films I’m referring to can be found here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Disney_Films .

Now the question may arise, “How often will I review a film?”. Well, as of now, I plan to post every Tuesday: one week with a review and the next with a picture hint of the review to come.

Another question that may arise, “Am I going to review all these films chronologically?”. The answer is no, for two reason: one, it’s hard to get a hold of some of the older films, so if I wanted to do them chronologically, there may be some delays in getting my reviews out. And two, people are more familiar with the newer films, so if I went chronologically, I feel I wouldn’t get many readers until many years into this blog!

What I plan to do is alternate my reviews between the newer films and the older films. I define “newer films” as films released in my lifetime, i.e. from the 90s to the present, and “older films” as films released from the 80s and back.

And finally, “How do I plan on rating the films?”. Well, I thought about this for a while. I didn’t want to give them a percentage out of my own head. And the comparison ranking that I use for my other blog would be too hard to keep up with here. So what I did was devise a set of questions that I’d ask myself after each film and give points based on my responses. I’d tally up the points after and then procure a percentage from that. Click the image below for an enlarged version of my rating sheet!

And yes, I know it’s not an extremely technical way of rating, and it may be somewhat subjective. But in the end, it’s the way that I feel best sums up what I look for in films to determine whether they’re good or not. And here’s the grading scale I follow:

So without further ado, please visit this blog weekly, read the reviews, and comment so I know how I’m doing! I hope you all enjoy yourselves here!

  1. Mark, You and Your Blogs Are Sweet! I Love Animation and Want To Do Cartoon Voice-Overs, but I started to follow your blog because you’re passionate about the movies and we both review them for fun because we love them so much šŸ™‚ Glad to follow you šŸ™‚

    1. Glad to follow you! And I’m glad that you like my “sweet” blogs!

Animation and Disney are my two greatest loves, so of course I have blogs devoted to them.

Looking forward to more awesome reviews on your blog!

  2. Hey Mark,

I am a fellow Disney blogger and one of your followers. I am also a travel agent for Magical Vacations by Me (An Authorized Disney Planner) and was curious if you would like to have a travel agent linked to your website? I would love to be an agent for your readers. We could set up and incentive program for you and/or your readers for when they book through me. All of my services are complimentary if they book through me so they pay no more than they would if they booked directly. I work hard to make sure they have vacation customized for their family while saving money. Please feel free to ask if you have any questions. I hope we can work together in the future. You can email me at joey@magicalvacationsbyme.com
