Notable Deaths

Lyricist Richard M. Sherman Dies at 95

Lyricist Richard M. Sherman has sadly passed away at the age of 95. Mr. Sherman (1928-2024) along with his brother, Robert, composed and wrote the songs for a plethora of Disney projects.

These included animated films (such as The Jungle Book and The Aristocats) to live-action films (such as Mary Poppins and Bedknobs and Broomsticks) to theme park attractions (such as It’s a Small World and Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress).

The prolific duo even did songs for non-Disney films such as Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Snoopy, Come Home, Tom Sawyer, Charlotte’s Web, The Slipper and the Rose, and Little Nemo: Adventures in Slumberland.

Our condolences go out to his family and friends. He will be sorely missed!

I’M ONLY DOING THE THEATRICAL FILMS, THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

Directed by James Neilson, Summer Magic is a Sherman Brothers musical set in early 20th Century Maine. I hadn’t seen it before, but heard good things from many of my Disney friends. Did I agree with them? Read on for my review of Summer Magic.

Today’s film in review is about an English man who is too busy with his work to focus on what really matters most: his family. It’s only after a visit from a whimsical being is he able to reconnect with his family even if it means losing his job.

“Oh, we’re reviewing Mary Poppins again? How marvelous!”

Nope, today’s film is actually Christopher Robin. Directed by Marc Forster, was this not-really-a-live-action-remake-but-seriously-kinda-a-live-action-remake a well-made film? Read on to find out!

And remember, SPOILERS AHEAD!
